WeWard is an app that rewards you for walking. You can earn its in-app currency, Wards, by converting your daily steps, completing challenges and taking part in other activities. You can then exchange Wards for rewards such as cash, gift cards or charity donations.
I’ve used WeWard for about a year and earned around £40, mostly from steps I would have done anyway. That won’t replace an income, but it does make WeWard worth a look if you want to earn a little extra from walking.

WeCards
Once you’ve walked 500 steps in a day, you can claim a daily card in the WeCards section. You can earn more cards through activities such as watching adverts or visiting locations shown on the in-app map.
Cards come in collections of nine. Complete a collection and you can submit it for XP, with some collections also offering Wards or card packs. You can trade cards with other users or gift them to friends, which gives you something else to work towards while you’re out walking.
XP, challenges and leaderboards
You can earn XP from walking, converting your steps and completing daily or weekly challenges. Keeping up a streak also helps you earn more XP over time.
XP levels up your account and helps you climb the weekly leaderboards. Depending on where you finish, you may earn extra Wards and move into a higher league. I see this as a bonus rather than the main reason to use WeWard: converting my everyday steps is much simpler.
Other ways to earn Wards
WeWard also has optional features, including Watch and Spin, scratch cards, prize draws, referral bonuses and offers for playing mobile games or shopping online.
The mobile game offers are useful if you want your walking and gaming rewards in one place. From what I’ve seen, though, it’s worth comparing each offer with other earning apps, such as Freecash, before starting a game. The reward shown in WeWard won’t always be the best available for your time.
How much can you realistically earn with WeWard?
My verdict: Is WeWard worth using?
WeWard is one of the better walking rewards apps I’ve tried. It gives you a straightforward way to earn from your daily steps, with cards, challenges and leaderboards if you enjoy that side of it.
If you already walk regularly and don’t mind opening the app to claim your steps each day, I think it’s worth using. Just keep your expectations realistic: the walking rewards add up slowly, and I’d compare the game offers elsewhere before committing time to them.
