Can you genuinely make money by playing mobile games, completing offers, answering surveys or simply walking? That’s what I’m here to find out.
Why I created Pixels to Pounds
After being let go from my job, I needed to find new ways to replace some of the income I had lost. I began testing apps and games that promised cash, gift cards or cryptocurrency rewards.
Since then, I’ve tried everything from mobile gaming offerwalls and walking apps to surveys, reward platforms and crypto games. Some have paid surprisingly well, while others have required far too much time for very little reward. I’ve also found apps that make impressive earning claims but appear to make cashing out extremely difficult or simply don’t pay at all.
Across the different apps, games and offers I’ve tested, I’ve successfully cashed out thousands of pounds. Pixels to Pounds was created to document those experiences and help other people identify which opportunities are genuine, which are worth the time and which should be avoided.
How I test earning apps and games
I personally use the apps and games featured on Pixels to Pounds. Wherever possible, I track:
- How much time I spend using the app
- How much money or cryptocurrency I earn
- Whether spending money is required
- The minimum withdrawal amount
- Which payment methods are available
- How long a withdrawal takes to arrive
- Whether the advertised earning potential is realistic
- Any important restrictions, risks or warning signs
Successfully cashing out is one of the most important parts of my testing. A large balance displayed inside an app means very little if it can’t be withdrawn.
When possible, I include screenshots, payment evidence and figures from my own experience. Earnings, rewards and app features can change, so I’ll also update reviews when I discover that something is no longer accurate.
What you can expect from my reviews
My aim is to give you a realistic idea of what each app or game offers before you invest your time or money.
I won’t describe something as a worthwhile side hustle if it only pays a few pennies after hours of work. Equally, an app doesn’t need to provide a full income to be useful. If it offers a simple way to earn a little extra money from something you would already be doing, I’ll explain who it may be worthwhile for.
Not every app featured here will receive a positive review. Pixels to Pounds also investigates apps with misleading earning claims, unreasonable withdrawal requirements or other warning signs that users should know about.
Results will vary between users, countries and devices. My earnings are evidence of my own experience, not a promise that everyone will achieve the same result.

Cryptocurrency and financial risk
Some of the apps and games I test provide rewards in Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies. This doesn’t mean I endorse every aspect of cryptocurrency, NFTs or Web3 gaming.
Cryptocurrency values can rise or fall significantly, and some Web3 games have sold paid assets before reducing support or abandoning their projects. Never spend money you can’t afford to lose, and don’t assume that buying an NFT, miner or in-game asset will generate a profit.
I generally favour apps that allow people to begin for free and withdraw genuine rewards without making a large upfront investment. Even then, there may still be a cost in time, mobile data or exposure to adverts.

Who runs Pixels to Pounds?
Pixels to Pounds was created and is run by me, Lee. I’m a full-time content creator with years of experience producing detailed gaming guides, testing game systems and explaining them in a straightforward way.
I’m also the creator of The Tank Club, an established MMORPG guide website that has been helping players since 2017. I’ve brought the same testing, research and guide-writing approach to Pixels to Pounds, but this time the focus is on finding out which apps and games really pay.
